Al-Oqilat Exhibition Participation

First: Participation in Janadriyah Festival 27

The Al-Oqilat exhibition took part in the Al-Qassim Region pavilion at Janadriyah Festival 27. It attracted the pavilion’s largest share of visitors, who nicknamed it “the international exhibition.”

Opening and Official Visits:

His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz—may Allah protect him—then Governor of Al-Qassim Region, inspected the region’s pavilion at the festival and toured the Al-Oqilat exhibition. The exhibition supervisor, Abdullatif Al-Wuhaibi, gave His Royal Highness a detailed introduction to the exhibition and its contents:

The exhibition was also honored by a visit from His Royal Highness Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz—may Allah protect him—Minister of State, member of the Council of Ministers, and President of the National Guard.

His Royal Highness Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah recorded his visit and expressed his admiration for the exhibition. He recommended preserving and caring for the heritage and thanked Abdullatif Al-Wuhaibi for his work in presenting and organizing the exhibition.

The exhibition was also visited and admired by His Royal Highness Prince Omar bin Sultan bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz and His Highness Prince Saad bin Abdullah bin Musaed—may Allah protect them.

The exhibition was also visited and praised by Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Tassan, Special Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri, Assistant Deputy President of the National Guard; Minister of Water Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Hussayen; and Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Tuwaian.

Second: Participation in Saudi–Egyptian Youth Fraternity Week in Egypt

As part of the Saudi delegation’s participation in Youth Fraternity Week, supervised and organized by the General Presidency for Youth Welfare from 12 to 23 Muharram 1432 AH, Al-Qassim Region made a distinctive contribution through Abdullatif Al-Wuhaibi’s photographic exhibition on the Al-Oqilat.

The people of Al-Qassim—the descendants of the Al-Oqilat—made a prominent contribution to the program. The photographic exhibition portrayed their struggle, far-ranging journeys, and historic relationship with Egypt. It presented an honorable image of the people of Al-Qassim and of Saudi Arabia more broadly.

The Egyptian Minister of Youth was briefed on the Al-Oqilat’s role in strengthening Egyptian markets and introducing new cultural influences. He was told that the Al-Oqilat were the first to bring camels from the Sudanese desert to Egyptian markets and that Sheikh Fawzan Al-Sabiq was the first ambassador appointed by King Abdulaziz. Their role in digging the Suez Canal and working alongside their Egyptian brothers was also highlighted.

Key subjects explained to exhibition visitors included:

— How livestock were brought from the Arabian Peninsula in winter and from Sudan in summer.
— How horses were brought to Egypt from across the Arab world and the strength of the Egyptian market for them.
— Al-Oqilat victories and trophies at racetracks in Cairo and Alexandria.
— Egyptian neighborhoods, streets, and squares named after Al-Oqilat figures, such as Sa‘b district in Ain Shams.
— Honorary lifetime memberships granted to Al-Oqilat men by Egyptian racing clubs.
— Homes owned by Al-Oqilat men in Egypt and their leadership in markets such as Bilbeis and Shibin El Kom.
— Certificates of good character and conduct awarded to them by Egyptian leaders.

The exhibition supervisor, Abdullatif Al-Wuhaibi, also invited the officials to enjoy Arabic coffee and traditional Al-Qassim hospitality: kleija and Sukkari dates.
